Respond to the following paragraph, including citations and references The scheduling of patients concerning their requirements for continuity of care and positive outcomes is a complex and important task for any nurse manager. It is essential to establish a balanced and fair schedule for all team members while also ensuring that the needs of each patient are met. The nurse manager must consider the patient’s needs for continuity of care, the team’s needs to create a balanced and fair schedule, and the individual nurse’s needs to have adequate rest to provide quality care to patients. When creating a schedule, the nurse manager must ensure that each patient’s needs are met regarding continuity of care. This includes providing the same nurse or team of nurses to a patient throughout their stay in the hospital. This allows the patient to become familiar with the nurses taking care of them and the team to become familiar with the patient and develop a relationship with them. This can help to promote positive outcomes, as the patient is more likely to feel comfortable and in control of their care (Mula & Estrada, 2020). Thus, the patient will receive a quality healthcare service. The nurse manager must also create a balanced and fair schedule for all team members. This includes providing the team with the opportunity to have adequate rest periods between shifts. This is important for both patient safety and the health of the nurse. If a nurse is overworked or too exhausted to provide quality care, it can harm the patient’s outcome (Campbell & Patrician, 2020). Additionally, the nurse manager must ensure that each team member is given a fair number of shifts and that they are well-rested. Finally, the nurse manager must consider the individual nurse’s needs when creating a schedule. There is a need for good leadership in the nursing department that establishes a working environment where the nurses feel empowered and have great experience of job satisfaction (Gotlieb et al., 2021). This can help the nurse to feel supported and valued, which in turn can lead to improved morale and job satisfaction. In a nutshell, the nurse manager must consider the patient’s needs for continuity of care and positive outcomes, the team’s need for a balanced and fair schedule, and the individual nurse’s need for adequate rest and flexibility when establishing a schedule. By doing so, the nurse manager can ensure that each patient’s needs are met, the team is supported, and the individual nurse can provide quality care. References Campbell, C. M., & Patrician, P. A.
