It is essential to establish a balanced and fair schedule for all team members while also ensuring that the needs of each patient are met. The nurse manager must consider the patient’s needs for continuity of care, the team’s needs to create a balanced and fair schedule, and the individual nurse’s needs to have adequate rest to provide quality care to patients. When creating a schedule, the nurse manager must ensure that each patient’s needs are met regarding continuity of care. This includes providing the same nurse or team of nurses to a patient throughout their stay in the hospital. This allows the patient to become familiar with the nurses taking care of them and the team to become familiar with the patient and develop a relationship with them. This can help to promote positive outcomes, as the patient is more likely to feel comfortable and in control of their care (Mula & Estrada, 2020). Thus, the patient will receive a quality healthcare service. The nurse manager must also create a balanced and fair schedule for all team members.
