GROSS DESCRIPTION: The specimen is labeled with the patient’s name and “right upper neck mass” and consists of a 4 x 2.5 x 1 cm lobulated piece of meaty red brown tissue. Cut section reveals lobulated tan tissue. MICROSCOPIC DESCRIPTION: Sections show lymph node showing intact capsules with underlying follicles showing reactive germinal centers as well as sinus histiocytosis. Phagocytic activity is noted HCPCS M1 M2 M3 M4 Units within the germinal centers as well. DIAGNOSIS: Reactive lymphoid hyperplasia, benign, right upper neck lymph nodes.
