She quit seeing her boyfriend, and no longer seemed to care about her appearance or social life. She began wearing the same clothes each day and rarely bathed. She lived with a roommate but rarely spoke to her. When she did talk to her, she said she had found clues that her job was just a front for an organized crime operation. She had been fired from work for missing many days. Her roommate said that he had often seen her mumbling quietly to herself and at times she seemed to be talking to people who were not there. She would emerge from her room and ask her roommate to be quiet even when she was not making any noise. Kimberly began talking about organized crime so often that her roommate brought her to the emergency room. On exam there, Kimberly was found to be a poorly groomed young woman who seemed inattentive and preoccupied.
