You will develop the presentation with the intended audience being your supervisor or a shared governance quality peer committee – who would you go to for permission to actually do this project? The goal of the presentation is to gain buy-in for your project. Keep in mind that there are several factors that can affect how persuasive your presentation is: degree of professionalism, thoroughness of your plan, solid evidence to support it, and financial incentives to have it done. propose your quality improvement project to the person(s) who can authorize your project. Rationale Frameworks, models, concepts, and/or theories used to explain the problem (this can include your fishbone diagram, histograms, etc.), any reasons or assumptions that were used to develop the intervention(s), and reasons the intervention(s) was expected to work. Specific aims Purpose of the project/project goals Methods Context Contextual elements considered important at the outset of introducing the intervention(s) Intervention(s) Description of the intervention(s) you will implement. Members of the team participating in the project and the role each will play. Description of how the change(s) will be monitored and what data will be collected. Study of the intervention(s) How will you know if your change is working? How will you evaluate your change? How will you know whether the observed outcomes were due to the intervention(s)? Measures What measures will you use for tracking change and performance? How will you validate results? What methods will you employ for assessing completeness and accuracy of data? Analysis Qualitative and quantitative methods you will use to draw inferences from the data. Results Results you expect to have because of the intervention. Details of the process measures and outcome Potentially observed associations between outcomes, interventions, and relevant contextual elements Plan for testing your intervention under different conditions. What will be the conditions of the second iteration of testing? The third? The fourth?
