(true) C1: John is at an increased risk of developing an MI and heart disease. (true) Premises 1 & 2 are both true, therefore my conclusion is valid. Situation 2: P1: Knowledge and education are important components of medication adherence and blood pressure control (true) P2: John was educated on the importance of medication compliance with high blood pressure (true) C1: John adheres to his high blood pressure medication regime. (false) While both P1 & P2 are true statements, my conclusion that John will properly manage his high blood pressure is false. Just because John was educated on the topic does not mean he will comply with his blood pressure medication. Situation 3: P1: High blood pressure is decreasing in prevalence. (false) P2: High blood pressure is not dangerous to a person’s health. (false) C1: High blood pressure is not a threat to one’s health and rates are decreasing throughout the population. (false) Both P1 & P1 are incorrect statements, therefore my conclusion is invalid. Situation 4: P1: John was prescribed oral antihypertensive medication. (true) P2: John does not need to make any major lifestyle changes for his blood pressure. (false) C1: John’s high blood pressure will be well controlled now that he is on medication. (false) While P1 is true, P2 is false, along with an invalid conclusion.
