A time where I experience an ethical

A time where I experience an ethical dilemma in nursing was recently when caring for a medically disabled patient who was also nonverbal. She had been dropped off by her skilled nursing facility to our office and left without a sitter or family member. While the patient was still able to understand and comprehend what was happening mentally, she was unable to tend to herself or make any comments about her medical care that was taking place. After discussing with the physician, it was decided that we would call her husband who lived in their home to inform him of her appointment and see if he was able to accompany her to the visit but he said he was unable to come and wished for her to still be seen although she was alone. Following this, the patient was examined and had her routine office visit for cancer surveillance but once the visit was completed, we could not coordinate transportation with her nursing facility. The patient was in our office for roughly 3 hours; she was physically uncomfortable, had run out of oxygen, and was moaning in pain. It was decided as a team that we would call a rapid
