Respond to the following paragraph, including citations and references According to Yoder- Wise (2019) there are several types of organizational structures that can exist within a healthcare setting. The first is the functional structure where various departments are arranged according to specialty & services provided. This is the most common structure within healthcare organizations (Yoder- Wise, 2019, p. 185). Another type of organizational structure is the service-line or product-line structure where a specific service or product is integrated under the control of a single manager or executive (Yoder- Wise, 2019, p. 185). More complex structures exist, such as the matrix structure, where the manager of a unit is responsible for quality service and reports to both a functional manager and a service or product line manager (Yoder- Wise, 2019, p. 186). The most interesting type of structure is identified as a flat structure. Here we find that the services or care rendered is controlled by those rendering the care. We are also told that decisions regarding delegation are also left up to these individuals. These individuals also determine the methods by which care is delivered, and the steps taken regarding patient care, while these individuals both encourage & facilitate better working conditions for employees (Yoder- Wise, 2019, p. 187). One cannot simply choose a type of structure and expect it to be successful. There should be common goals identified in the attempt to uphold the vision of the organization. All stakeholders including management, directors, as well as healthcare providers need to understand how they must work together to produce a successful cohesive unit. Similarly, the constituents whom the organization is trying to impact must also be carefully evaluated so that the best decisions can be made (Adnan, Dafny, Baldwin, Jakimowitz, Chalmers, Aroury, and Chamberlain, 2022). I think that the matrix structure is best suited to healthcare. There are several individuals responsible for ensuring guidelines and policies are upheld. This suggests that there are several points of contact where evaluation must be carried out.
