Case Summary: Plan of care Mrs. Hodges is a 28-year-old female, G1P1 of African descent, who delivered at 05:30, a 41-week male infant, weighing 9 pounds, 3 ounces, after a total of 15 hours of labor. Mrs. Hodges had epidural anesthesia and a 3-hour second stage with vacuum-assisted delivery and a mild line episiotomy. After the delivery, she received 600 ml of IV boluses of Oxytocin and 20 units in 1,000 ml of Lactated Ringer’s solution. The estimated blood loss for the delivery was 250 ml. Mrs. Hodges’s labor was complicated by chorioamnionitis, for which she received an IV antibiotic immediately after delivery. Her husband is at her side. Her baseline hemoglobin was 12, and her Hct was 37%. She has a medical history of asthma and uses an inhaler. Her fundus is firm at 2 fingers below the umbilicus. V/S: T 38.7 C, HR 96, BP 132/72.
