He claimed he dropped a large rock on his toe several weeks ago and sustained an open wound. The client has been admitted to your medical-surgical unit for antibiotic treatment and surgical debridement of the diabetic ulcer on the right great toe. PMHX: Type II diabetes, hypertension and hyperlipidemia. Final DX: diabetic foot ulcer requiring antibiotic treatment and surgical debridement. The scenario will begin with the charge nurse giving students a report on the patient s/p surgical debridement last evening.
